CAPSTAN is a remote-first, independent studio with a worldwide crew.
Our expertise spans the full scope required to build historically grounded games, from programming and tech art through to characters, clothing, weapons, environments, animation, cinematography, design, QA, audio, and music. It also includes the specialist disciplines the period demands, such as shipwrighting and architectural reconstruction.
Alongside the core team, we maintain a standing network of historical advisors. Historians, costumers, naval researchers, tall-ship sailors, and curators contribute throughout development, informing and correcting the work as it evolves.
Many of us came to game development because we couldn't find the games we wanted to play. The result is work that is passion-led and built by people who care about the history on its own terms.
